  • You must obtain a serial number from one of the reference librarians at Rowland Medical Library before attempting installation.

  • Go to this link and choose your phone type for installation instructions http://dynamed.ebscohost.com/access/mobile

  • NOTE: Each DynaMed serial number lasts for 1 year.  Please contact the library for a new number when the current one expires.

Micromedex i-Phone, i-TouchBlackberryAndroidPalm PilotWindows Mobile

  • Access the Library's UMMC Resources page

  • Click on Micromedex, under Quick Links

  • On the right side, click on Micromedex 2.0

  • Click on mobileMicromedex� (in header, to the right of Micromedex 2.0)

  • Follow the directions to install mobile access.

  • Access the Library's UMMC Resources page

  • Click on  Nursing Reference Center, under Quick Links

  • Scroll to the bottom and click on NRC iPhone/iTouch application

  • Enter your email to receive further instructions

PubMed iPhone, iTouch, iPad

  • 2 versions available from the Apple App Store

    • Each version allows filters; use of AND, OR, NOT; email references as formatted text or as RIS tagged record for reference management applications, link to full text through web browser, ordering through Lonesome Doc

    • PubMed on Tap --$2.99

    • PubMed on Tap Lite --FREE (has all features of the full version but only returns 10 records per search)

  • There are 2 mobile versions of PubMed which can be accessed through any web browser

  • http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/  This is a simplified version of the standard PubMed

  • http://pubmedhh.nlm.nih.gov/    This version has additional options, including a PICO search, searching with filters, or for systematic reviews or clinical queries  


UpToDate

  • The mobile version of UpToDate must be accessed through the web browser of your mobile device

  • Click above, or UpToDate Mobile Access

  • You must be on campus and on the UMMC wifi in order to access the mobile version

  • NOTE: There is an i-Phone app for UpToDate but it's use requires an individual (not institutional) subscription.

 

EBSCO databases including Alt Health Watch, CINAHL, Cochrane Databases, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE), Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, Health Technology Assessments, PsychINFO, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection

  • The EBSCOHost app for iPhone and iTouch is available from the app store but must be activated after downloading

  • To activate, go to any EBSCO database from the UMMC Resources page (for example CINAHL or PsychINFO), scroll to the bottom of the page and clink on "EBSCOHost iPhone and Android applications"  Enter your email address to receive the link to activate the app

  • Once activated, opened and click settings at the bottom to select databases, publication dates and/or full-text or peer-reviewed search options.

  • Choose the database or databases that you wish to search. For one database you can click on the title.  For more than one, you should click the boxes beside the titles of those you wish to search and then click on continue (located at top and bottom of list)
