HEPATITIS A
This guide is an introductory list to help locate
research materials at the
Rowland Medical Library. Hepatitis A, also known as infectious
hepatitis or epidemic hepatitis, is an ancient disease of the liver affecting
children and adults worldwide. It occurs sporadically.
The usual form of transmission is oral-fecal and it is commonly
spread in crowded and unsanitary conditions. Hepatitis A can be transmitted by
eating undercooked shellfish from waters contaminated by human feces. Morbidity
is rare. Good hygiene and vaccinations can help prevent outbreaks.
