Legal Aspects of Nursing

This guide is an introductory list to help locate research materials at the  Rowland Medical Library. Legal aspects of nursing focuses on the relationship between nursing practice and the law.   Recent changes in the provision of health care have made knowledge of this relationship more important than ever before.  In addition to nursing legislation, other topics included are standards of care, patient rights, informed consent, malpractice liability, patient safety, and documentation and confidentiality.  Every nurse should have a basic understanding of the law and how it affects nursing practice.
