Stroke

This guide is an introductory list to help locate research materials at the Rowland Medical Library. Stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts, injuring or killing neurons in that area of the brain. Stroke is a major health concern in the United States and can lead to serious long-term disability. There are substantial racial, ethnic, and geographic disparities related to stroke. Stroke is the third leading cause of death in Mississippi and the United States.
