The public is invited the view the exhibits Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm at the Jackson Medical Mall; and to attend the following programs that teach, report, and honor the success and accomplishments of the women health professionals in the state.

  • Mississippi Women Physician’s Day
    March 12, 2008 Gov. Haley Barbour's Proclamation of Mississippi Women Physician's Day.
    Breakfast and exhibit viewing 8:30 am - 9:45 am at the Mall Center Stage. Shuttle service provided to the Capitol. Box lunch provided by MSMA at noon.
     
  • Health Career Accomplishments of African-American Women
    Presented by the UMMC Division of Multicultural Affairs & Jackson/Hinds Library System
    March 13, 2008 12 noon – 2:00 pm, Mall Center Stage
    UMMC will bus registrants at 5:00 to the Medical Mall to view the exhibit

  • Healthy Children for a Strong Mississippi
    Presented by the UMMC National Center of Excellence in Women's Health & Jackson/Hinds Library System
    March 20, 2008, 9:30 am – 11:30 am, Mall common area

Children will receive healthy snacks and drinks.
Tables devoted to topics such as: skeletal system, circulatory system, muscles, respiratory system, brain, teeth, smoking & drugs, five senses, physical activity and nutrition. Plus library books and bookmarks and a healthy body puppet show.

  • The Future of Women's Health in Mississippi

  • A Historical Perspective of Women Physicians "A Lady Alone: Elizabeth Blackwell, First American Woman Doctor," a one woman play written by N. Lynn Eckert, M.D. and performed by Linda Gray Kelley.

    A community science forum present by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Base Pair & SOAR programs

    The drawing for the quilt will also be conducted.

Raffle

UMMC Quilters

The UMMC Quilters have made a queen-size quilt for to be raffled off and a wall hanging quilt made by hand to hang in the library to commemorate this event. Drawing April 8th.
